Read about it here.
I don't spend a lot of time talking about the transgender community because, to be honest, 98% of the issues that come up with them fall under "doesn't effect my life." And when things aren't hurting anyone else or effecting anyone else, I tend to just leave it alone.
This bothered me, so I wanted to say something about it.
Basically, a court ruled that transgender surgeries have to be paid for under medicaid because they are medically necessary due to their gender dysphoria. It is considered a treatment. The argument is that not covering the surgery violates the Affordable Care Act.
Last year, I had an endometrial biopsy. My doctor was very concerned that I might have uterine cancer. So I had all the standard yearly tests, then came back in for the biopsy.
Imagine my surprise when I got a bill. The yearly stuff was covered, the biopsy was not. So I had to pay for that out of pocket. I guess checking to see if I have cancer isn't medically necessary?
Because of the nature of the biopsy, I was also made to have a pregnancy test before the biopsy was done. I didn't need the pregnancy test, but it was required. That wasn't covered, either!
My father was on medicare. He was diagnosed with brain cancer. Not a damn bit of it was covered. From surgeries to treatment to prescriptions, it was all paid for out of pocket. My parents had to get a grant to pay for his treatment. I guess none of that was medically necessary, either.
Look, I don't normally care what people do with themselves. If you are a man and want to be a woman, you do you. I really don't care. But this effects others. This is tax payer money going to your surgery. And in the meantime, the insurance I pay for wouldn't cover a test to see if I had cancer. None of my father's treatments were covered, and those treatments were life and death. So yeah, I have a problem with this. A huge problem.
So I got put in Facebook jail for three days for sharing the Portland art gallery image of Trump being beheaded and posting the statement:
That was against Facebook's policy! It appears the issue wasn't the violently graphic image of our president being murdered, which has been getting passed all over Facebook like the latest trend. No... it was the fact that I pointed out that the person who created it is unhinged and the hypocrisy of the whole thing. Let's face it, it's people like whoever created the image who flipped their lid when that rodeo clown came out in an Obama mask. The man lost his career. This art gallery had their landlord tell them to take it down. The gallery is still there.
Anyway. The point of all of this is this. And this is especially for those who use the Facebook page. I am assuming the image/statement was reported. The past week or so has been pretty rough over there in the background.
Look, we have liberals who are subscribed to the page. Normally, if they comment, they behave. With the exception of one, and he knows who he is. I don't remove them. We welcome everyone to take part in the conversation as long as they add something to the conversation. Insults and threats don't add anything.
But this past week I have gotten death threats, I've had all manner of personally insulting messages with no real point sent to the inbox, and several people took it upon themselves to track down my personal account and rifle through what little was available for the public.
I run one of the more benign pages of this type, so I can only imagine what other folks get in their inboxes.
However, with Facebook insisting I prove I'm not a Russian bot by jumping through all these hoops, plus all of these unhinged violent morons dropping me little love letters (and I'm the one being put in jail. I'm sure Facebook is fine with their filth), I am assuming the page isn't long for this world. Facebook doesn't allow for any kind of appeal (they give you a box to state your case, but it apparently is never capable of connecting, so it never gets sent). My jailing this time is three days because I was jailed once before for replying to a comment on the page and having FB decide I was posting spam and harassing a school shooter by speaking of him. So it will be Tuesday before I can post again.
I'm moving on. Facebook doesn't want us. I'm going to continue to post there, but just news articles and links to things I have written here. No more commentary. I have pulled down all of my advertising as well. If Facebook is so offended by me, then they can be offended by my money, too. I'll advertise elsewhere. And I did a lot of advertising.
I am open to suggestions for new social media. Obviously, Twitter is probably the next to go. I have social media links at the bottom of the page and in the Videos section here. I have moved away from Gab - did so some time ago - because it has been hijacked as far as I see it.
Most likely, I'll start upping my game at Minds. Right now they are the most viable alternative to Facebook. And a lot of the stuff I see other people posting is actually intelligent. Not all of it, obviously, but a good deal of it is. So I encourage you to join me at Minds. And if there is a social media network you prefer, let me know.
I hate that we get segregated because people can't handle that others have differing views. It's one huge reason we're so divided right now. The American people are treating their fellow countrymen as the enemy and don't see anything wrong with it. Debate and conversation are dead. And they'll celebrate as more and more non-extreme leftists (meaning liberals, moderates, conservatives, and everything in between) leave these platforms. But they aren't really shutting us down. They're creating echo chambers for themselves that won't be sustainable. And we'll still be out there having conversations, debates, and working on the real issues while they throw drinks at people and go thirty deep on one person because they can't handle it alone. If you don't believe me, look at Gab! When the extremists push everyone else away, the page becomes a haven for those extremists but also becomes irrelevant.

I have two updates on weird things.
First, I was just invited to the activist summit. So this is happening. I don't know why I expected that to take longer, but from filling out the interest form to getting the official invite, it took, like, two days.
Second, Facebook. I am having some real problems with Facebook right now. As some of you are well aware, I run ads on Facebook. Most of my traffic gets here thanks to those ads. I have an ad currently running which is a continuous campaign, and as far as I know, it is still running. A "post boost" ad just stopped running this morning.
But about a week ago I tried to boost another post and was told the ad was rejected. Because I am posting political content I am required to prove I am not a Russian bot or something. OK, easy enough. I understand they are covering their own butts, so I went along and began the process.
It requires me to submit a photo of my state ID or passport, and to submit residency information. A code is mailed to my home, which I then type in to prove my residence, which is, in fact, in the United States. That step has been completed and has been marked as accepted.
I am having trouble with the ID. I don't own a passport, so my only option is my state ID. I submitted pictures, front and back.
It was rejected. Too much glare. Weird, since the apps I deliver with accepted it just fine.
Submitted again. Edges weren't clearly visible.
Long story short, I have now taken 12 photographs of my ID, front and back, and submitted them with each one being rejected. I just submitted an appeal because this is getting ridiculous. The ID is clearly readable. There is no glare. The edges are visible.
Now, it could be that they don't like that my state doesn't put much on the back of the ID. There is nothing I can do about that, it's how the state does the ID. But there is a lot of blank space on the back. Or, it could be that my ID isn't a "real ID" because I opted to not go through that process. I don't use the airport, I don't go on military bases, and there is no real reason for me to jump through hoops to get this real ID. It is, however, a real state issued driver license.
I did submit an appeal to the last rejection and literally said that the ID is clearly readable with visible edges and that I cannot afford a professional photographer to photograph my ID.
Now, I promise you, I am not a Russian bot or Russian spy. I've never been to Russia. I've never worked for the Clintons. And you've heard my voice on videos... I have a blended NJ/NC accent.
However, I'm not sure what this is going to mean for the Facebook page. If they continue to reject my ID, I won't be able to run ads, which will, of course, lower my reach by a lot. I'm alright with that. I can advertise elsewhere. I am hoping it doesn't end up with them shutting the page down. If it does, I am elsewhere. You can always bookmark this page. There's also Twitter and Minds.
Social media is a crazy place.
OK! So, I'm getting up to stuff again. I posted a video the other day about an advertisement that came to me from a job board I use for the position of "activist." The curiosity is killing me. I have a lot of questions, and I decided I am getting those questions answered.
I have, in fact, filled out the application to attend the activist training, and someone has been in contact with me. As of this posting, I do not yet have the "official" application and have not been told I can attend. But I am trying.
Now, because I stirred up some stuff at YouTube, I want to clarify why I am doing this. I am not doing this to troll this protest group. I am genuinely curious about what is going on here. To be honest with you all, trolling is not my thing. I know a lot of people do it, and a lot of people make a lot of money doing it, but it isn't my thing. I don't plan to disrupt the event, I don't plan to troll the attendees. I am planning to dress in the business casual they suggest and I am going to be respectful of all of this... because I do, in fact, respect that other people have opposing views to my own.
My reasons for attending are to find out:
Basically, if you are following this whole thing and are excited about it, I appreciate that. But if you're hoping for some big blow out and epic trolling you are going to be very disappointed. You will, however, get an honest look inside all of this, if I manage to make it through the process and get in. And if there is some huge revelation or something, obviously I'll be letting you know.
I am still figuring out the logistics. Please be aware, I am only one person. I don't make any money doing any of this, so I can't hire a staff. Any audio or video I am able to get will be through my cell phone. And, to be honest, I've never done anything like this before. So don't expect it to be Project Veritas or anything along those lines. It's going to be "average blogger with a cell phone and some questions." But we'll get the answers we want as best as I can get them.
For updates, you can either come here or hit my Minds page. The next update to all of this will, obviously, be whether or not I got in. So, fingers crossed!
