I know a lot of people are going out of their minds this morning because of the firing of Matt Lauer because of yet another sex scandal. But I want to say something really quick. Is anyone else getting concerned about all of this? We're at a point now where all you have to do is accuse someone and they lose their career. I'm not saying any of these allegations are untrue, they may all be 100% true for all I know. But I am very concerned by the fact that one person comes forward with an allegation and if they aren't fired immediately, you can count on more trickling in until they are fired. I am hearing very little about folks pressing charges or any of these allegations being pursued past the point of firing from their jobs. I am seeing very little evidence other than the words of the accusers. Anyone who questions this is also in danger of losing their careers. And aside from the conviction in the court of public opinion, nothing else is getting done about it. At what point do we turn around and say, hey, are we going to charge any of these people and do actual investigations into these claims?
Let's discuss. Because I am really curious to see what other people think. This truck is in Texas and has numerous complaint calls a day to the police.
The sheriff's office says:
"I have received numerous calls regarding the offensive display on this truck as it is often seen along FM 359. If you know who owns this truck or it is yours, I would like to discuss it with you. Our Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it."
The law states that knowingly using “abusive, indecent, profane or vulgar language in a public space” is, by definition, disorderly conduct.
What do you think? Free speech or the law is right?
If you wish to elaborate, you are welcome to in the comments.
