This is really something I don't normally do, but I'm doing it now. I am recommending a TV show. Hear me out.
The other night I caught a new sitcom called "Cool Kids." It is on right after "Last Man Standing." The show is utterly hysterical and I like it a lot. So far. It is only the first episode and they haven't gotten political (just an aside, I don't watch political sitcoms. See all the stuff on this site? This is my life. I need a break once in a while. So any sitcoms with a political undertone don't get watched, and no, it doesn't matter what lean they have).
I would like to see this show make it, but I doubt it will. So I would like to encourage everyone to check it out.
Why am I so into telling you about this show?
Because this is the exact show we need in this country right now. It is so politically incorrect. The jokes they make... let's just say they take a shot at everyone without being needlessly cruel.
The show is a group of older people in a nursing home - and these are all very recognizable actors and actresses, there are some faces in this show! If you enjoy British TV, it might slightly remind you of a show called "Waiting for God." It's not exactly the same, but it does remind me of it.
Do you ever watch older sitcoms like "The Golden Girls" or something, and you hear them crack a joke and when you are done laughing you say to yourself, "You couldn't get away with that joke today!" Well, folks. This is why I am suggesting this show. They were rattling them off like crazy!
I assume at some point someone is going to complain about the insensitivity of the show and the show is going to be in jeopardy. I'd like us to support it. I'm sure the show is full of liberals, but it really doesn't matter in this case. We, as a country, need this. We need a show that allows us to laugh at ourselves and others. Honest comedy. Like I said, nothing in it was needlessly cruel. But a lot of the jokes were very politically incorrect and challenge the current climate on things we shouldn't say, according to the left. No one was safe and everything was challenged. We need to get back to this. We need to get back to comedy that leaves no one safe. We need it to push free speech.
So if you get a chance, don't switch channels when "Last Man Standing" is over. Stick around for "Cool Kids." Let's support a sitcom that isn't being politically correct. Let's support comedy and free speech. And, most importantly, let's start laughing at ourselves and each other again!
