Much good news!
I have been watching the trends on video upload platforms lately, and I am getting concerned, as I know many others are. YouTube is not a favorite among my readers, but there aren't many other options out there at the moment. Vidme, what was supposed to be a great alternative to YouTube, sent out an email tonight telling us they were closing down the site, effective December 15. I don't see much loss there as this "alternative" to YouTube was more strict. I gave up on them when they deleted an "inappropriate" video I had uploaded, which YouTube had decided was appropriate - and it was one of the few they deemed advertiser friendly, too! So when YouTube is less strict, I'm not interested in your platform.
Personally, I am enjoying BitChute, but some readers have expressed concern because of the way the platform runs. It's apparently a torrent site, which some folks aren't comfortable with.
A lot of the folks I watch on YouTube are getting "community guidelines strikes." The big news at YouTube is the demonetizing of videos, which causes videos to not be suggested and promoted as much. I've taken a serious hit from that, especially since my videos are demonetized within seconds of being uploaded - no, really, seconds - every single time, and I have to go through a process to get them reviewed, which they rarely are. As an example, about a week ago I uploaded a video that was nothing more than a sped up drive through several NC towns. No commentary. Music was from YouTube's own music library. It was a tester video. It was demonetized within seconds.
But you can get these strikes because snowflakes didn't like your videos. And if you get enough strikes - and it isn't a lot, it's something like 3 or 4 - they shut down your channel and delete all of your videos. Again, it is only a matter of time before I start getting strikes, because I'm seeing channels that are much more benign getting strikes this past week or so.
Facebook isn't working out for videos. It's a pain in the rear to upload, very few people watch them unless I pay Facebook to push them, and I am already getting nasty grams about some of the content. And, again, people I follow are having their accounts deleted.
Because of all of this, I have decided to take advantage of the seasonal sales and I upgraded this site again. I can now upload these videos directly here.
What does that mean for you?
