What Happened This Week While Everyone Was Screeching About Kanye

10/13/2018

Comments

PictureScreenshot: CNN
You might not know this, but there was other news this week besides Kanye meeting with Trump at the White House. Let's have a look!

Apparently, Trump signed legislation to clean up millions of tons of garbage from the world's oceans. You'd think the environmentalists would be all over this.

President Donald Trump added his signature to the “Save Our Seas Act” on Thursday, green-lighting an initiative to clean up eight million tons of debris from the planet’s oceans.

“As president I will continue to do everything I can to stop other nations from making our oceans into their landfills. That’s why I’m pleased – very pleased, I must say – to put my signature on this important legislation,” Trump said as he signed the Save Our Seas Act into law at the Oval Office.

Sponsored by Alaska Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, the bill aims to promote better domestic and international efforts at cleaning up garbage that is littered throughout the oceans. The new law will extend the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Marine Debris Program for another five years, and promote cohesion among different federal agencies on how to reduce marine debris.
Trump also signed a bill to help patients from overpaying for drugs. Where is everyone who is all about healthcare?
President Trump took a step on Wednesday to keep customers from overpaying for prescription drugs.

Insurers will no longer be able to keep pharmacists from telling consumers when paying cash would be cheaper than using insurance for their prescriptions.

The two bills signed by Trump moved to correct “gag rules” that many viewed as an egregious business practice.

One bill applies to private health insurance and the other to Medicare.
Democrats agreed to confirm 15 judges this week, too!
Senate Democrats accepted an offer Thursday from Senate Republicans to confirm 15 lifetime federal judges in exchange for the ability to go into recess through the midterms, allowing endangered Democrats to campaign.

The calculation by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and his caucus was simple: That Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) would be able to confirm roughly 15 judges if he kept the Senate in session for the next few weeks anyway. So Democrats OK’d an offer to confirm three Circuit Court judges and 12 Circuit Court judges as the price to pay to go home for election season.
Kuwait has all but stopped shipping oil to the US for the first time since the early 90s.
Kuwait has all but stopped shipping crude to the U.S. for the first time since the aftermath of Saddam Hussein’s invasion in 1990, eroding an economic link between Washington and the Arab petro-monarchy.

The halt is the latest sign that booming demand for oil in Asia, particularly as the U.S. re-imposes sanctions on Iran, and rising supplies from America on the back of the shale revolution are re-drawing petroleum trade routes.

U.S. imports of Kuwaiti crude fell to zero over four weeks through late September, the first time that shipments have completely stopped since weekly data became available in June 2010, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Based on monthly data, Kuwaiti shipments to the U.S. haven’t stopped since May 1992, when the OPEC producer was still recovering from oil-field fires ignited by retreating Iraqi troops in the first Gulf War.
California "accidentally" registered 1500 people to vote who were not eligible.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) revealed Monday evening that it had registered 1,500 non-eligible people, including non-U.S. citizens, to vote between April and September, despite assuring the public for years it had safeguards to prevent that from happening.

The error is the latest scandal for the DMV, which had to admit a month ago that it made 23,000 over voter registration errors.

As Breitbart News reported:

In 2015, AB 60 went into effect, granting over one million illegal aliens in the Golden State the ability to apply for driver’s licenses without having their immigration status reported to federal authorities. In 2017, AB 1461, the “motor voter” law, automatically registered Californians to vote when they applied for driver’s licenses unless they were ineligible. State officials reassured the public that non-citizens would not be allowed to register to vote because database safeguards would prevent it.

The DMV says that the 1,500 improper registrations do not include any illegal aliens, according to SFGate.com.

In response to the news, California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, a Democrat, called for an independent audit of the DMV. Governor Jerry Brown ordered his own audit of the DMV last month, after the agency was criticized heavily by Republican businessman John Cox, who is running for governor in November against Democrat Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom.
Why am I telling you all of this cheery news, especially when we have a Newsroom at the website?

Consider this your friendly reminder that when there is a huge story - no matter what it is - you need to start paying extra attention to what isn't being talked about. While the Kavanaugh debacle was going on, you should have been doing the same. There was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that wasn't getting the attention it should. This week was worse. We were all hyper focused on a story that was, ultimately, a non-issue. Kanye was at the White House. Well, so what?

Always start looking harder when a story seems to take over the news. While they sit around screaming and yelling about tweets and celebrities, start looking for the real news that isn't getting reported or is being under reported. You'll always find something. And it will always be far more important than what they are trying to hyper focus us on.

Why We're Not Willing to Give an Inch

7/15/2018

Comments

Gun control isn't the big story right now, because the media is now telling us to be outraged about Trump's visit to the UK, his meeting with Putin, and the illegal alien issue at the southern border. But truth be told, our favorite laundry detergent eating line readers are still out in the public eye and fighting for every last grasp of attention they can get. Politicians are still whining about how we could have a pure Utopia if we could just ban the rifles that are responsible for about 1% of all gun crime. And the fight isn't going anywhere.

And we're still not giving an inch.

But why, you might ask. Well, let's discuss. Let's use an old article to discuss this. This article is from CBS and is from 2014. It is a brief story about a shootout in California that left the suspect dead and an officer injured.

Why is this four year old article relevant? Because it highlights one of the reasons we aren't willing to give an inch... the fact that when you give an inch they take a mile. If you read all the way through to the bottom, you'll notice this paragraph:
Picture
"But Whiskey, they say revolver twice. It was probably a typo!" And I'm sure it would have been corrected at some point in the last four years if it were. I'd also be more inclined to believe that if we hadn't heard about "assault pistols" as well.

Apparently, if you add "assault" to the front of something it becomes a lot more frightening. So now, instead of just "assault rifles," we have "assault revolvers," "assault pistols," and "assault shotguns." That covers just about everything, right? And if it is an "assault" weapon, you obviously can't use it for defense because the Marines are using it or something!

It's our old friend the slippery slope. Your scary black rifle has to go because the military uses "assault rifles." But now... all these other "assault" things are weapons of war, too. After all of that is gone, your deer rifle will be a sniper rifle and we'll have to do away with that, too.

Yeah, I still remember back in the day when having a scope on your rifle was considered unsportsmanlike. Does anyone else remember that? If you hunted with anything other than iron sights, you were cheating. No one needs a rifle with a scope on it. If you were really interested in the sport of hunting, you'd use iron sights. A scope just proves you just want to kill things, because a scope makes it almost impossible to miss. Any rifle with a scope is much more dangerous, and there's something wrong with the person who owns it.

Remember that paragraph the next time you doubt your deer rifle would ever be called a sniper rifle. It already has been.

See, here's the thing. We're not stupid. We know you think we are, but we aren't. The goal of the left is to do away with the second amendment and end all private gun ownership. We know that. We also know it can only be achieved in bits and pieces because the American people, in general, don't want an all out gun ban. It's been a big loser for politicians trying to get elected for as long as we can remember. It's why so many post photos of themselves shooting guns.

And the best way to get people to go along is to condition them. We're not being conditioned anymore. We're tired of the horse manure.

America's Second Civil War?

7/1/2018

Comments

Picture
This week has been an eye opener for me. As I cruise around the internet, I'm seeing more and more opinion articles about a second civil war in the USA. Some claim it is coming, some say we're already fighting it, and some say within five years we'll be in an all out war with each other. And I'm not talking about fellow bloggers, I'm talking about mainstream news sources.

And I get it, tensions are high. The USA is extremely divided, or at least appears to be. People are afraid to publicly voice opinions. Groups are using fascist techniques to stop what they believe are fascists, and that means riots and violence. Mass shootings. Wanton threats towards politicians and average citizens who speak out. People frustrated because they are being censored or prevented from speaking. People attacking each other at rallies. Accusations of phobes and ists. Friends and families torn apart because of political differences. Doxxing. Anxiety over things they think are going to happen immediately even with no evidence of it being incoming.

Among all of it, I see people joking about who would win and why. People puffing their chests out and saying they hope for it. They're ready. Locked and loaded. Bring it on. We can end it fast.

Am I the only person on Earth right now who doesn't want to see us come to a civil war? Am I the only one who doesn't think we're at the point yet where it should even be getting discussed? Can we discuss this like rational adults?

Let's take a look at what civil war would actually look like. All you need to do is pick up a book about the first civil war in the USA and take those lessons... then amplify them because technology has advanced so far.

What would you do if there was a second shot heard 'round the world? Yes, yes, I know... you're locked and loaded. But if you were face to face with a family member who disagreed with you, could you pull the trigger? Would you be anywhere near as enthusiastic? No one knows how they would really react if it came to that. You can puff your chest all you want, but reality is different than your own mind.

What would it do to the USA? Do you want the answer?

The odds are, a second civil war would end the USA. Completely and totally. Look at the state of our world right now. If we were busy fighting among ourselves, do you think someone else wouldn't move on in on us? Here comes a bigger problem, because here comes Russia. Or China. And that brings on a second war that would last longer, if we could get on our feet to even fight.

If no one else moved in and the war was fought to the end, our economy would be destroyed. We would need to rebuild more than buildings. The stock market. The technological infrastructure we so depend on. Foreign alliances. Our national debt would be 1000 times worse than it currently is. China would, at the very least, call in their debts, which alone would destroy us.

We're still not over the first war, so how long do you think it would take to mend from a second? Basically, it wouldn't solve the problem, no matter who won in the end. The country would remain divided. People would be fighting it for generations even after it officially ended. The old tensions would still exist, and new ones would be brought into the fold.

Look at our soldiers coming home from foreign wars. The injuries. The flag draped coffins. The PTSD. How bad do you think it would be when a civil war was over and you had to live the rest of your days remembering how you had to kill your own countrymen? And we're not using muskets anymore. Now we're using drones with hellfires, weapons on burst, C4, and God knows what else. And there will be video for you to watch over and over and over again.

This is what you are puffing your chest about. This is what we're discussing openly in the mainstream media. This is what some people are hoping for. Something that should be such a last resort that we'll do almost anything to prevent it.

But let's step out of speculation for a moment and discuss reality. Before you sit down and decide civil war is imminent, I want you to shut off your TV. I want you to go outside. Not to a rally. Not to a protest. Go out into normal, every day life. What do you see? Do you see people ready to kill each other? Do you see the divide we're being told is there? Are you running in to the same things in person that you run in to online? When you remove people from their screens and their large protective groups, what do you see?

I see people who talk to each other and don't weigh the pros and cons of it based on gender, race, sexual preference or anything else. I see people going about their normal lives - going to work, planting gardens, walking their dogs. I don't hear people talking about how war is the only way to fix our country. No one is attacking people randomly on the street. The drama online and in the media isn't there. I see people volunteering at homeless shelters and standing in line to help after devastating weather events. I see the drama as being condensed into places and groups and being highlighted for views and advertising dollars. Even people who take part in them stop mostly after the groups disperse and they step away from their computers.

We're not there yet. We're not ready to go to war with each other. We're not even close. Every generation deals with the same sort of crap for different reasons. We haven't gotten there before and we're not there now. And before we hope for it, we need to sit down and think about why. To defend the country you love? The way of life that you love? Because both of those things would be gone forever during and after a civil war.

Loving the USA and being proud of her means you do whatever you have to to prevent an event like a civil war. Knowing when we're not there and when we are. Hoping we never get there. Opening your eyes and looking at the reality of life, not what the media tells you it is and not what it is online. If the time comes, so be it. But let's take our time getting to that bridge.

David Hogg and the Conspiracy Theories

2/22/2018

Comments

PictureDavid Hogg - Twitter
OK, I am going to start this off by saying I do not follow conspiracy theories, just so you know where I am coming from. I don't get on board with them, and I have a bad reaction to them. I will, however, listen to all sides of them before I call BS on them, but calling BS is almost always the outcome. I have, on rare occasion, declared a theory "unproven," which is different than calling BS. But on this story, so you know right off... I am calling BS. I have been watching this since it began. I have watched the reasoning and the debunking and the responses to the debunking. So, let's break this down. We're going to discuss not just the conspiracy theory, but the freedom of speech around them.

A lot of the clips being used for the conspiracy side are being removed, which I'll get to later, but let's discuss some of the points made.

Now, the main point being made is that David Hogg is a "crisis actor," which many media sources are actually claiming exists. They site this:

I am a military veteran and served one 4 year enlistment between 1998 and 2002. During this time, I participated in several military exercises (to train and prepare for wartime scenarios) with one happening nearly every year. This training included bomb-raid drills, chemical decontamination, security patrols, and even repairing simulated holes in concrete as if we were repairing the runway which had been bombed.

While this was fun (in a weird twisted way) it was by no means the only drills the military participates in. While I was active duty, I was assigned to a team that traveled through 3 different states and participated in local disaster preparedness drills. During these drills, I, as an actor, would be dressed up in moulage and placed in a scenario for the local police, fire departments, and ambulances to respond to.

  • Full text
So crisis actors are a real thing. It's just that conspiracy theorists have taken them to new levels.

Now, "proof" one that David Hogg is a "crisis actor" is this:
Picture
The first thing someone pointed out was the shirt on the guy two pictures above David Hogg. And then there's this:
I'm more inclined to believe this young man's video, because he shows the yearbook. The tweet above just shows a close up of the page and nothing else... and the page is the same one. Now, a lot of folks are claiming it's a torn out page inside the yearbook. And that's great. But I decided to do a little research - which is, of course, not so easy since they're kids - and I found some of the people on that page! Sidney Ho is mentioned by CNN. OK, so the conspiracy theorists will come back because it's CNN. But I also found the facebook page for the young lady at the beginning of the row David Hogg is in, Mei-Ling Ho-Shin. She also attends the school. And no, I won't post her facebook page because you all need to leave her alone.
Picture
Personal information redacted
She also never lived in California, which is where they claim this yearbook photo is from. She's from Georgia.

The tweet with the fake picture and claim is probably not where it originated from. I can't seem to find the originating source. And I just went through her Twitter feed and can't find it, so she may have deleted it. However, every conspiracy theory about this shooting is being retweeted by her account. She hasn't been in high school for a while, though, so the tweet isn't from experience or from going to school with him.

So I'm calling BS on the yearbook. It's the Stoneman yearbook.

Then we have "his dad is/was an FBI agent!"

So what? Look, I know a lot of tensions are high because of the issues coming out about the FBI. But whether this kid's dad is or was an FBI agent means absolutely nothing.

The California video:
Again, so what? He's apparently from California originally. I'm from NJ originally. I know there's photos and video of me from my time there - and times when I went back to visit - does that make me a crisis actor? He's allowed to go back to California from time to time. And this video is stupid. It's about a life guard not wanting the one kid to store his boogie board in a trash can. I can't imagine he'd have no experiences at all when he went back to California.

And for the "butbutbut" squad, yes, the above video is actually the one where David Hogg appeared on the news.
Anyway, yes, it is actually possible for this young man to have been legitimately involved in both incidents. I'm not sure why this is even being questioned. The boogieboard incident wasn't a crisis, it was just an overly pushy life guard and a friend of his that didn't want to be banned from the beach, so he went to the media.
Shop for Mice at Logitech
Picture
Imagine that!
Moving on. He apparently "forgot his lines."
Are you kidding me? The kid was just involved in a shooting where 17 people died. And he's a kid. Let's see how put together you are after dealing with this, let alone how well you'd handle it as a high school student. And if he was as prolific a "crisis actor" as folks seem to think he was, I think he'd be better at remembering his lines, don't you? I'll tell you, I've been involved in incidents that weren't nearly this bad and I was an absolute hot mess.

Actually, I was in NJ for 9/11 and was able to watch the event in real time from my front porch. I was 20 at the time. Let me tell you something... I was not only a hot mess, but I was completely irrational. My reaction to that event at that time was horrible. If I'd been interviewed by a reporter during that, I would have looked like a complete idiot.

Let's face it. Every single time there is any kind of event in this country, the first thing we hear about is crisis actors. And we get stuff like this shown to us:
Picture
The above graphic is horse manure. Crisis actors do exist. They do not do what you think they do. And they aren't going to advertise publicly if they are going to stage a tragedy. Common sense. Seriously. This goes back to the quote from the crisis actor above. Yes, they use crisis actors to perform realistic drills. They do it all the time. It isn't an unknown thing. It is usually done for first responder training and large company training for mass events. And considering the state of the world, yeah, it's necessary.

This time around, video after video is coming out, and Youtube and other video sites are removing them. One was in trending the other day on YouTube, and now you get this:
Picture
Business Class Deals
Do I like conspiracy theories? No. Do I believe most of them? No. Do I think they should be removed? No! This is still freedom of speech. And when you enter the public eye, as some of these kids have, you do, unfortunately, open yourself up to all kinds of criticism and theories. Any time you publicly proclaim an opinion, you are going to be openly criticized, and your age or reasoning doesn't matter. YouTube is watching their own butt, and they aren't known for being all about free speech. To date, it's just been demonetizing and not promoting videos. This was a removal. And the removal was based on feels. That's it.

Look, I don't agree with this kid's opinion. I do, however, believe he has a right to express his opinion, and I will defend his right to do so. I don't like people trying to silence me, or the active attack on the first amendment. So I'm not going to do it to this kid, either. I do not believe any of these mass shootings were set ups. Some of them - like Vegas - were shady. Even still, for a man of his age, it isn't unheard of that he had no online presence. My mom doesn't, either. But I don't believe the people involved were actors. Do I think these kids were coached? Heck yes I do. I don't think they were given lines or anything like that, but their opinions are not based on more than one experience and their research is like what a lot of other people's research is - only what they want to see. I'm sure they are being shown "evidence" that can be or has been debunked six ways to Sunday. And I'm sure some of the ideas and thoughts they've put forward were suggested by parents or others. People get tougher feels when the kids are talking instead of the adults, and right now they are hoping that your feels will convince you to give up rights.

Who I am now is not who I was when I was their age. I tended to believe what my parents and teachers did at the time, because they "knew better." I was lucky enough that my mom was a democrat and my dad was a republican. I ended up somewhere in between. Not all kids have that benefit. Not all kids get both sides of an issue. And I don't think a lot of these kids are getting both sides of many issues.

Regardless. I know the people who believe the conspiracy theories are going to be enraged, and probably won't read far enough down to see this part. Most of them, anyway. I've already been called a "normie." Whatever. I'm too old to care about that garbage. Here's the bottom line: the fact that this conspiracy theory has gone so public isn't "waking people up." It's making our entire side look like a bunch of fools. You aren't opening people's eyes to anything. You are making our argument so weak it may become invalid. We're going to have to wait and see how far Trump goes on gun control. But you can bet your life savings the next democrat in office is going for the strictest gun control they can get past the Senate and Congress, and depending who is in those seats, that could be pretty bad news. And with this kind of trash going so heavily public, you are drawing that closer and closer. We're going to lose Constitutional and God given rights because you make us all look crazy. And right now, when they see one person do it, they assume the rest of us think that way, too. And nothing will change their minds. That's why we're all suddenly racist. Because a few people on the right are, the rest of us obviously are, too. So yes, you are taking us all down with you, and you are taking our freedoms along.

We are fighting tooth and nail against a media that is beating us over the head with feels and a public that is falling for it, who in turn are now writing their reps begging to have their freedoms taken away for peaceful slavery. And if those reps think they won't get re-elected because the left screams louder than right ever does, then guess what? The conspiracy theories and the memes aren't going to cut it. We have a shot at losing a lot of seats in the government this year. Trump may end up not getting re-elected in 2020. And now is the time to stop lying to yourself and take action. Pepe the damn frog and other garbage isn't going to stop us from losing freedoms. Actual freedoms.

So let's get off the kids. Let them protest and rant and rave. It's their right, just like it is yours. They are winning in public perception because the best we can come back with is a conspiracy theory about crisis actors. They are hitting people in the feels, and we're just making ourselves look nuts. As always, we have plenty of real facts and feels of our own that we can work with. Stop making us all look crazy, because you are guaranteeing us a loss of more freedoms, and that freedom is one of our fundamental ones.

If you want to fight back - and you should - use real facts and real stories. Stop with the garbage. We're going to become Canada or Great Britain, and we can thank this kind of stuff for that.

Sorry, not sorry.

Debunking the CBS Propaganda on Guns

2/19/2018

Comments

Do you ever read an article on something you have some knowledge on and just want to bash your head into the desk repeatedly because you know horrifically bad information is being released to the public and they are going to fall for it?

I just read that article from CBS. So let's talk about it.

They have released an article on the five things harder to get in Florida than a gun. Yes, make sure you are sitting somewhere without a hard surface easily reachable by your forehead, because this one is special.

Cold Medicine
Florida State law prohibits consumers from purchasing more than nine grams of common cold medication like Sudafed within a 30-day period. It's also illegal to purchase more than three packages at once. This is because the medication contains an ingredient called pseudoephedrine, used to create the illegal drug methamphetamine. In 2016, 327 people died from methamphetamine use in Florida. That same year, 2,559 gun deaths were recorded in the state. You can buy as many guns as you like at one time in Florida.
2016 stats:
Firearms deaths: 2,704
Homicide: 1,294
Drug Poisoning Deaths: 4,728
Per the CDC.

The total of deaths from firearms and general homicide for 2016 is 3,998. 730 less than drug poisoning deaths.

They are correct that pseudoephedrine is used to make methamphetamine. However, with the laws in place to stop the manufacture, as well as the possession of meth being illegal, 327 people still died because of meth.

You do not need to spend time filling out paperwork for cold medicine beyond signing a form, nor is there a background check performed by the FBI. You can buy cold medicine as a felon, illegal alien, domestic abuser, or after having been involuntarily committed. Cold medicine also does not cost hundreds of dollars a pill.
First time buyer SPECIAL - Free Shipping + Free Gifts
Marriage License
Hoping for a shotgun wedding in Florida? Hold your fire. State residents must either attend a premarital course or wait the mandatory three days before the marriage license takes effect. There's no similar cooling-off period for buying a gun.

To obtain a marriage license in Florida, both parties must be at least 18 years old. Minors must provide consent from both of their parents or a legal guardian. Photo identification is required for all ages.

Out-of-state residents are exempt from the waiting period, so elope there while the going is good.
In Florida - and the rest of the country - the legal purchase age for most rifles is 18, handguns 21. You cannot purchase a firearm under the age of 18. Even if mom and dad says it is OK.
In 2016, 105,668 crimes of domestic violence were reported to Florida law enforcement agencies resulting in 63,193 arrests.

Source
  • - A study of intimate partner homicides found that 20% of victims were not the intimate partners themselves, but family members, friends, neighbors, persons who intervened, law enforcement responders, or bystanders.3
  • - 72% of all murder-suicides involve an intimate partner; 94% of the victims of these murder suicides are female.8
- 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence.5

The act of being married isn't exactly safe, either.
Valley Food Storage
Fertilizer
Anyone buying more than 25 pounds of fertilizer is required to register and be screened against a known terrorist list. Yes, fertilizer.

So far, so in line with gun purchases. However, there are restrictions on the amount of fertilizer you can purchase in Florida because it contains ammonium nitrate, which, when mixed with other substances, can become explosive. Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh infamously used large quantities of fertilizer to make his bomb, prompting the federal government to clamp down on the sale of the gardening compounds (15 years later).
They said it there. Fertilizer is a known component for bomb making, and would, I assume, become a nice go to should guns be outlawed.

However, speaking from experience, if you walked into a gun store and wanted to buy 25 guns, you'd be escorted out and the FBI would be called. You can also buy a 50 lb bag of fertilizer for about $22. An AR15 is $500 and above. A 50 lb bag of fertilizer, in the wrong hands, will do a lot more damage a lot faster than an AR15 or 25.

It's also just cow poop. That's not exactly hard to gather on your own.

For those wanting to know if it happens, I spent seven years working in a gun store. One time a guy came in and wanted to buy ten AR15s. Yes, he was escorted out and the FBI got his information straight from his state ID.
Anti-diarrhea medication
Buying large quantities of anti-diarrheal meds? Expect to be put under surveillance in a way that owners of large numbers of firearms most likely will not. Anyone who bulk-buys anti-diarrhea medication is likely to come under scrutiny by the FDA because the drugs have been abused. In large doses, drugs like Imodium have a similar impact on the body as opiates like heroin. You'll get high, but your bowels will stop moving.

In an effort to combat this bizarre sideline in the opioid epidemic, the FDA is asking manufacturers of over-the-counter anti-diarrhea treatments to change the way they package their products, and limit the amount of loperamide going into the medication.
According to their own linked article, the changes are voluntary. And it mentions nothing about the FDA coming to your home or any authority being called if you purchase "large quantities" of the medication. It takes anywhere from 50 to 300 of these pills at a time to get high. When you buy the medication, you are not asked to sign paperwork or show an ID. So how is this in any way harder to get than a gun?
Medical Marijuana
Medical marijuana is available for purchase in Florida, however, it is illegal under federal law. Licensed dispensaries are only allowed to sell medical marijuana to qualified customers.

To obtain a medical marijuana card, one must first seek treatment from a physician who will later enter client information into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.

A patient would then need to apply for a Compassionate Use Registry Identification Card. Once approved, the patient would be able to contact a licensed medical marijuana center to fill their order. Then, and only then, can you hope to get your hands on some marijuana. When Florida did its annual tally of deaths caused by drugs in 2016, zero deaths were attributed to marijuana.
That would be a great argument except for the fact that marijuana is still federally illegal. I actually support legalizing pot, especially for medical purposes. But the fact of the matter is that whether Florida allows it or not, marijuana is not federally legal, and at any point the federal government can decide to step in and stop the use of it in states where it is legal. Jeff Sessions has already talked about doing that, as was discussed here. So yes, for medical reasons, you would need a prescription, and then you need to register it so they know who is using it should the federal government step in. That's what registries are for, after all.

And of course, there is the glaringly obvious piece of all of this:

None of these items are Constitutional rights. Your right to keep and bear arms is. I hate to be so blunt about it, but those are the facts. The second amendment does not mention hunting nor are there any words like "but" or "excluding" in the wording. A cursory look at firearms advances at the time it was written is also a dead giveaway that the Founding Fathers knew guns would improve and expected it.

The CBS article is nothing but propaganda, and bad propaganda at that. If it was fully pro-gun, that too would be propaganda. That isn't what our media is here for. It isn't their job. But they've gotten so far away from giving us the news that a lot of people are starting to take notice. It is no longer about presenting the news and the facts, it's all about pushing a political agenda. We deserve better than that.

Is the Florida Shooter a White Nationalist? *update

2/15/2018

Comments

It has been a big part of the ongoing story today that the Florida school shooter, Nikolas Cruz, was a member of a white nationalist group, Republic of Florida. According to ABC News:
The Anti-Defamation League, a civil rights watchdog, told ABC News they have information they believe to be credible linking Nikolas Cruz, the Florida school shooting suspect, to a white supremacist group called Republic of Florida.

The ADL said ROF leader Jordan Jereb told them Cruz was associated with his group. Jereb, who is based in Tallahassee, said Cruz was brought into the group by another member and had participated in one or more ROF training exercises in the Tallahassee area, the ADL said. Law enforcement officials have not confirmed the link.

As of 2/15/18 at 11:40 PM, this is still an active article with no updates, corrections, or further clarifications. Since the reports are unconfirmed - and they admit to it very briefly in the article - this was a poor choice of headline. A good portion of people out there won't read the article, only the headline, so they won't see the claim is unconfirmed by law enforcement.

Also as of 2/15/18 at 11:41 PM, from the Tallahassee Democrat:

You can click those images above for proof of time, screen shots taken at 11:42 PM EST.

World News Tonight with David Muir at 6:30 PM EST, was also reporting that the shooter was a member of ROF, a white nationalist (I can't provide a clip because you have to sign in with your cable provider, and I don't have a TV). WNT is also ABC News.

Now, both articles are claiming that this Jordan Jereb guy claimed the Florida shooter was part of their group. But according to the local source, law enforcement has found no evidence that the claim was true.

*sigh*

And then there's this gem:
Picture

ThingsYouNeverKnewExisted.com
Confused yet? Hold on, this gets better!

Below all of this there is a screenshot quote from this Jordan Jereb guy. The quote gets traced back to Gab, so I head over to Gab to make sure the screen shot is for real. Not only is it real, but this guy is losing his mind, and also claims it was a prank and he was had. He is also now not claiming to be a leader in this ROF. Here are the screen shots I took from his gab account. The first one is the one I was checking on, the rest are just the follow ups. Keep in mind, it is being reported that there are only about twelve members in this group, and if that is the case, then they should know if this kid was a member or not.
So now major news networks are still running the story that the shooter was a white nationalist and member of ROF, but it appears this may not be the case. Between a group claiming credit for the prank and local law enforcement not finding any evidence he was a member of the group, it may be time for the major news networks to clarify that this Jordan Jereb is walking it back and law enforcement is not agreeing with their sources. And they need to do it a little more obviously than their small admittance that this is all unconfirmed information.

Right now, the folks on the left are giddy that they finally landed one that isn't a Bernie supporter. I, personally, don't usually care about the political affiliation of mass shooters. It really doesn't play a roll. It does, however, get forced down your throat if there is any inkling that their first cries of "right wing nut job" were correct, and if they are not correct the political leanings suddenly don't matter to them anymore, either.

But this story is confusing at best. At worst, it is creating yet more division in a time of crisis, and since the reports are not confirmed, it seems premature.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center:
“Jordan Jereb, the leader of the Republic of Florida Militia (ROF), a white nationalist hate group that we have been monitoring, earlier today claimed that Nikolas Cruz, the suspect in the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, is a member of his group. Hours after claiming a connection to Cruz, Jereb said he had been misunderstood.

“On its website, the ROF describes itself as ‘a white civil rights organization fighting for white Identitarian politics, And the ultimate creation of a white ethnostate so we can be free from anti-white policies and have policies that reflect our values as white westerners. The ROF Militia is the armed forces of the Republic Of Florida.’

“Jereb initially claimed that Cruz was a member, that he had participated in one or more ROF training exercises in the Tallahassee area, and that he carpooled with other members from South Florida. Though the link was reported by several news organizations, the SPLC has not confirmed it.

“It may seem odd that Jereb would bring attention to his group by claiming a connection to Cruz, but Jereb has always been somewhat of a publicity seeker. In 2014, in fact, he wrote us to complain that we had not already listed ROF as a hate group. In April 2017, Michael Tubbs, the leader of the Florida chapter of the League of the South, a well-known hate group, wrote that Jereb ‘never misses a photo op’ and called him ‘a nut job who should be avoided.’”

Source
Bottom line: we really don't 100% know if this guy was a member of ROF. The cops aren't done investigating it, but as of yet have found no evidence that he was. At the end of the day, it won't matter. Even if they find no evidence ever, and if this Jordan Jereb guy publicly states he was not a member, the anti-gunners and the far left are going to run with this. And, as usual, we will all immediately be called white nationalists for not being on the far left.

Great. More division.
2/16/18 Update: It is beginning to be admitted this was a hoax. Some media outlets are beginning to add notes stating this news is possibly not true. The law enforcement agency is apparently tracking the membership of this group, which is why there is no evidence. More information:

Law and Order Depicts Rape of Right Wing Pundit

2/2/2018

Comments

PictureThe latest episode of “Law and Order: SVU” depicted the rape of a conservative commentator portrayed by Rhea Seehorn, seen here. (REUTERS/Mario Anzuoni, File)
So, the latest Hollywood vs. anyone not on the extreme left outrage is care of Law and Order: SVU. Apparently, there is a female right wing pundit - who people claim is very Ann Coulter like - who gets violently raped at a rally or something. Everyone is upset by this depiction, but I saw it in a different light.

  1. They have to help her and solve the case.
  2. It sort of highlights the violence of the left. While the female pundit is the one hurt, she was most likely hurt by people who hated her, or at least this is how this episode is being depicted (it hasn't aired yet, I don't believe. Maybe it has. I don't know. I'll never see it). The left loves to silence people by any means necessary, and this sadly is not an unlikely scenario. This episode forces you to see and recognize that.

I haven't watched SVU in years, mostly because I decided to do away with a household TV. But the show has been on forever, and depicts rape. Rape of all kinds of people. I'm not as outraged by this scenario as a lot of other folks seem to be. They take topics that are big at the moment, and right now, the silencing of right wing political pundits is still big in the news, has been for a while.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but those doing the silencing have proven that the use of violence, to them, is justified in silencing opinions they don't agree with. So this scenario, while gruesome, is not unlikely, and not only the women are threatened by it. We've already seen one female pro-gun pundit have to pick up her entire family and move quickly because a guy was sending her death threats that evolved into pictures of her kids at their school. The students practically burning down their own college to prevent Milo from speaking is old news, but news that will be burned into our minds for eternity. Even myself. I am, by no means, a force in the political world, I'm just some chick who likes to talk about current events and politics, and once in a while you folks come over to read it. But if you guys saw some of the messages I receive on an almost daily basis, you'd be shocked. A lot of them are graphic.

So while a lot of people take this episode as an affront to right wing pundits, I see something else, and hope others see it, too. This is a dangerous game, and people will go to any lengths to silence you. It has happened before, and it is happening every single day. This episode forces you to not ignore that. I'm not saying this isn't inflammatory or that it isn't an attack on the right wing. I don't know if it is or not. But we can take more away from it than that.

Let's Get Serious About 2018

1/17/2018

Comments

Republicans are staring down the barrel of an electoral gun in 2018. The average midterm election loss for the party of the president is 25 House seats. Republicans cannot lose 24 seats, or they lose the majority. Right now, over 30 Republicans have announced they’re leaving their seats, either to retire or run for a different office. That’s a solid number of open seats — and that number is likely to grow.

Source

Picture
As you are well aware, we are in an election year, the mid-terms to be exact. As stated above, 30 Republicans have decided to take their ball and go home instead of standing up for their beliefs, standing up for their constituents, or standing up for the country.

You aren't going to like some of what I am going to say here, but it needs to be said. We need to start getting real here.

The media is hammering the heck out of Trump on everything, and it really doesn't matter if what they are saying is true or not. They could be making up half the stories they are reporting, but it doesn't matter. The general public doesn't research or ask questions. They hear their favorite media talking head or reporter say something, accept it as true, and move on.

Trump's poll numbers are terrible everywhere. And we can sit back and say things like, "Those same polls said Hillary was going to win" until we are blue in the face. Just because they failed in 2016, doesn't mean they will fail in 2018.

The American people have this odd tendency to vote back and forth. The democrats are doing a bad job, let's vote republican. The republicans are doing a bad job, let's vote democrat. The democrats are doing a bad job, let's vote republican. See the pattern? Now, I, personally, would love to see a viable third party move to the forefront. But if we're being real, that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Every time a third party has had a shot at it, they've blown it horribly.

But what this pattern tells us is that people aren't paying attention to policy. They aren't looking in to what the democrats want to do to the country. They don't see what the republicans want to do. All they see is what they are being told. And no amount of yelling about waking up the masses is actually going to change that. Those people aren't reading pages like this, because in order to find pages like this, you have to be looking for the information. They aren't. And they most likely won't.

The cries of racist from the left - and the fact that literally everything is racist now - are going to work over these people. Even the most recent comments - the sh*thole comments - are being argued about, some saying it happened and some saying it didn't. But it is being reported as if he said it on TV and everyone heard him - it's an undisputed fact that he said it. And most Americans believe it is an undisputed fact. They also believe the comments were racist - because everything is. They don't understand the concept of why we don't want lotteries for immigration or why we would prefer to be a little choosier about who comes here. No. This is racist only. Because that's what they were told.

Is this going to play a roll in 2018?

Yes.

Could the republicans lose at least some control?

Yes.

Is Trump to blame?

Partly.

No, I don't lay the blame completely on Trump. I don't lay it completely on the media, either. And I don't lay it completely on our reps.

The blame can be distributed among all three groups. Trump needs to think before he speaks or tweets. The media has a bias that is so horrible they are almost at tabloid levels instead of actual working, researching, probing journalists. And our reps... they gave Obama almost everything he wanted, even though they were voted in to cut the flow of government overreach. And they hate Trump. So they aren't working with him. They aren't helping him. They aren't teaching him. They are taking their ball and going home, even if the price is giving up freedoms and opening our borders to whoever wants to come in at any time for any reason and stay for however long, completely unchecked. They would rather capitulate to the democrats, even though the people voted for less democrats than republicans.

The country is divided. Trump is blamed. This has been bad for a long time, but the people see it only as the fault of Trump. The economy is good. That is because of Obama. The economy was awful while he was in office, our credit dropped, our debt went through the roof, and we had no growth, but as soon as he leaves office, his real work suddenly kicked in! Economists don't agree, but it doesn't matter, because the average American voter won't hear about it.

The average American voter is hearing nothing but  horrible news about Trump. And let's be real, he's not the most well spoken or eloquent guy. He's doing a lot to hurt himself, and the media is running with it. Sure, they blow a lot of it out of proportion, but he's giving them the foundation for it. The media rarely reports good news about Trump, and when they have good news that needs to be reported, they try to make sure to leave Trump out of it.

The bottom line is this. We need middle of the road and right leaning people elected. Not extremists. Not leftists.  But right leaning and middle of the road. If the democrats - who are getting more and more extreme left as each day passes - get into office, nothing will get done. They will push for extreme socialist policies, Trump won't go along with a lot of them, and we'll stagnate. We already know the democrats are far less willing to work with Trump than the republicans are.  And, honestly, that will leave Trump extremely vulnerable in 2020. Here you have free stuff being waved around and Trump saying no, and a government that is accomplishing nothing. At which point you can expect people like Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Joe Biden to come out strong, and the country can't afford any of those people.

This is going to be a rough year. We all need to get active. We need to get good candidates to run for those slots being vacated by the cowards who won't stand up for anything, and we need to get them elected. We need to get more leftists out of government, not allow more in. We're dealing with a generation that is demanding socialism. That's really scary. We're not just discussing the loss of Constitutional and God given rights. We're talking about our entire way of life. So push for good candidates, get people involved, and vote. We're the only thing standing in the way of extreme leftists and their terrifying agenda. Draining the swamp is our responsibility. Now is the time to stop making excuses and lying to yourself. Now is the time to get to work and drain that swamp yourself.

The False Alarm of Epic Proportions and the Blame Game That Followed

1/15/2018

Comments

So, the other day there was an epic false alarm in the state of Hawaii.
Picture
Can you imagine picking up your phone to check your notifications and seeing that bit of horror?! I would assume this was the brown note struck in Hawaii. But really, what do you do? You're on an island. The missile was apparently only something like 20 minutes out. No message came for at least 30 minutes saying this was a mistake. What kind of shelter does one take against a ballistic missile? It's sort of like the drills during the Cold War where the kids practiced getting under their desks in case of a nuclear missile. It isn't really going to do any good.

Everyone was reeling from that one when the threat was found to be false. I'm sure the people of Hawaii had to collectively change their shorts, but the rest of the country was left sitting here wondering how such an epic screw up could actually happen. Speculation began, with some even claiming it was actually a drill after all.

Then, as you guessed, began the blame game. Who was at fault? Why did this happen? Blame Trump at all costs.
Picture
A lot of this went on, but we're going to use Jamie Lee Curtis' excuse for why Trump was at fault as the example, because it was one of the first to get picked up across the world.

First, let's talk about where this came from. This is stemming from the back and forth between Trump and Kim Jong Un of North Korea. This is one of those interactions where Trump will never be right. If he responds, he's egging him on. If he doesn't respond, he's ignoring a major security threat to the USA. Now, I'll be honest. I have my own ideas on how to handle Little Rocket Man, but not being former military or having an inside view of exactly how it works in reality, I'm not sure my own idea is feasible. I would not, however, be talking to him over Twitter. I'm not saying that Trump is wrong, but I'm not saying he's right, either. He can't be ignored, but I'm not sure tweets are helping the situation.

However, North Korea isn't exactly a new threat. This hasn't been a new thing as of 2017. As many of you already know, we had a "police action" in North Korea. Many of you also probably know that it never really came to an official end. North Korea has been threatening to blow up the USA since before I was born, and since before Kim Jong Un took over. Responses have been different from president to president. But I think the recent reaction should fall somewhere between the reactions of Obama and Trump. And if that fails, my personal plan, which again, I'm not 100% sure is feasible.

Anyway, the missile threat blame game stems from this interaction between Trump and Kim Jong Un.

The only problem is that that warning wouldn't have been any less terrifying even if we had an alliance with North Korea. We could be at a period of total peace and that warning would have struck the brown note.

Hawaii has something that is a prime target, and the people there know it.

Pearl Harbor.

Pearl Harbor isn't just a monument. It's still an active base. If I am remembering correctly, even the Navy SEALs work out of Pearl Harbor. For a country that wants to cause damage to the USA, start a war, or anything else, Pearl Harbor is a prime target. Just ask the Japanese.

Now a days, people assume a missile strike or any other attack will happen in large cities and financial districts, and they are correct. Those are prime targets if your goal is to disrupt our economy or cause maximum casualties. But Pearl Harbor is a target if you want to disable the Naval fleet and cause tactical damage that makes defense difficult. Where North Korea would lob a missile - if they ever did - would depend on what Kim Jong Un wanted to damage. Terrorists tend to go for large cities because they want to damage the economy and cause mass death. But North Korea might set it's sights on our military bases instead to establish power and cut our defense. And let's face it, the Navy is important for that.

Kim Jong Un is not exactly a stable and reasonable person. He desires power to extreme levels, he desires powerful optics even if he has nothing to back up those optics, and he wants to be historically immortal. He's power posturing right now. I have no idea if he is as dangerous as he wants the world to believe or not. The problem is, Trump doesn't want to be cowed, either. He's not going to let Kim get the upper hand, even in optics. So yes, they are going to have a tough time not poking each other.

Kim, however, would not be more stable depending on who our president was. The possible threat would be there no matter what. He was doing similar crap during Obama's presidency. Obama didn't poke him on Twitter, but he did his fair share of poking. Obama, however, had a track record of drawing lines and then walking them back. As far as Kim was concerned, he had Obama, he wasn't a threat. Now, we have a new president, so Kim has to get him under his thumb, and it isn't proving successful. Trump hasn't developed a record of advancing or walking back lines yet, so Kim doesn't really know yet where he stands. But he does known Trump is willing to poke back. Now he's got to test him to see where the line is. He's watching to see if Trump will make good on the strong words or walk it back like Obama did.

Kim would react negatively either way. If he gets poked, he's going to ramp it up for those optics, whether he can back it up or not. If we ignore him, he's still going to ramp it up, because he desires power and immortality, so he won't allow himself to be ignored.

So no, this isn't 100% Trump's fault. What this was was a failure of the system. Although I have to say, the video linked above makes a great case for why it may have actually been done on purpose and why it was actually a success. The people of Hawaii are well aware of the threat to themselves. It has happened before. And if they are scared of imminent doom because of the back and forth between Trump and Kim, they managed to react well to their doom the other day. That could have been real horror down there with people panicking and getting hurt, but it wasn't. So no, I'm not convinced the masses are as worried about that back and forth as Hollywood and the media wants us to believe. Sure, it's worrying. It always is. But we're not in the state of mass panic being portrayed. It's not even really an everyday thought. I think most people get what is actually happening there.

Why All These Sexual Misconduct Accusations Aren't Helping Feminism

12/19/2017

Comments

Picture
For the past few months, we have sat in our living rooms and watched as Hollywood celebrities, politicians, and journalists have been taken down one by one on sexual misconduct accusations. Everything from inappropriate conversations to outright sexual assault and pedophilia has been pushed across our screens. The #MeToo Campaign even got awarded Time Magazine's person of the year. But is all of this doing anything for women?

Well, most likely, no. While we hear a lot about accusations, resignations, lost jobs, and ended careers, we aren't hearing a whole lot about litigation. There aren't many stories of charges being pressed or real legal investigations being done - there are some, but not nearly as many as you would expect with the daily barrage.

And the daily barrage is a big part of the problem, too. At this point, I'm starting to wonder if I am the only woman on Earth who hasn't been sexually harassed by a public figure. Or... was I, but I didn't realize it?!

In all seriousness, though. We are watching this come across our screens regularly. We've all had a public figure that we respected or at least enjoyed a lot get taken down in this. I won't lie, I was devastated when Bill Cosby was called out - one of the few actually being legally charged and tried for his crimes. I grew up watching Bill Cosby on TV. I had a record (yes, an actual record, don't judge me) of one of his standup routines that I listened to so much I actually wore the thing out. Bill Cosby was almost a part of my family. And I've watched many others go down since then.

What is it doing to us as a whole? The proponents of the campaign tout awareness. Well, we're aware. We know sexual misconduct in all of its forms happens. We know it happens rather often. We also now know that just the act of accusing someone can end a career or work in your favor in a political race. We are also aware that the accused doesn't stand a chance. Even if there is an investigation and he's proven innocent, his life is ruined. We are also aware that actual legal action is apparently not as important as destroying someone in the media.

We are also aware that any sexual misconduct that isn't male vs. female won't get the same attention. Men accusing women or men accusing other men get pushed aside and get very little air time. Just in the past week, a woman came out and said she was sexually assaulted by a female musician, and that got almost no airtime at all. The female musician is also still employed, to the best of my knowledge. She's made a few statements, on Twitter mostly, but her career doesn't appear to be over.

But the reality here is also this: we're becoming desensitized. This is becoming so common that we're starting to say "Oh, there goes another one." No one is shocked anymore. No one is surprised. And I wonder how many people are even paying attention.

It is also bringing up a lot of questions. How many of these accusations are false? There were some gains to be had in some of these accusations, which does force one to stop and think. What is being done to actually prevent this in the future? What is going to happen to due process? We've chosen the court of public opinion over the legal system, and that isn't exactly constitutional. How is this going to affect the everyday lives of men and women? How can women continue to work and thrive in a professional setting when everyone is scared to death of being accused of something, so they just avoid each other? How is this going to play out in future accusations? There are so many now that more and more people are becoming skeptical. Is this going to make it harder for people in the future who have real problems that need real help? How much of this is actual harassment or assault, and how much is people being over sensitive or politically correct? This is also a side effect of everyone being offended by everything.

I am not, under any circumstances, saying the accusations are all false. But I want to point out the fact that when you have a constant barrage of them, non-stop, people do become desensitized to it, and they do start asking questions. We are, apparently, not allowed to not believe a woman when she says she was sexually harassed or assaulted. Due process is not allowed... she's not lying, period. Well, that isn't going to hold out well. There have been several cases of sexual assault that have been reported and were huge news, only to be later discovered to be untrue. And there are a lot that don't make national headlines as well.

If you have been sexually assaulted, go to the police. Period. Press charges. Get the bastard in front of a judge. Don't wait 40 years to say something. Don't go to the media and make a scene, and then let it go. Help other women - and men - who have been victims, but do it through the legal system. This has become a witch hunt, and all the questions and all the coverage are actually not helping women - and men - who need the help. It is making their lives harder. It is going to be harder for women to be believed in the future. It is going to be harder for women to get along in the workplace. It is going to be harder for women to advance. This isn't helping women, it is hurting.

Yes, your intentions may be good. But now we are faced with new challenges. A lot of people are asking a lot of questions. Or they are tuning it out all together. These things are not accomplishing what you want. It isn't raising awareness, it isn't helping victims, it isn't doing anything for women. It is making people turn the other way. It's no longer shocking. It's just a soap opera now.
