Let's be Perfectly Clear

There are some things you need to know about me.
  1. I am a non-violent person. That doesn't mean I won't use violence to defend me or mine. But I don't use it as a go to or end all, and I don't support the use of violence unless it is to save a life or because it is otherwise necessary.
  2. I don't consider you my enemy simply because you disagree with me.
  3. I don't believe "they did it first" is a good excuse for taking the low road.
For some time now, people have shared graphics and screen shots of extreme liberals calling for the death of NRA and GOP members for any various array of garbage that doesn't warrant a death sentence. It is usually accompanied by outrage from whoever shared it, "how can they do this? How can you wish death on a human being for disagreeing with you?" These statements and memes etc. are outrageous and extremely wrong.

But I believe they are wrong based on my moral code. Disagreeing with me shouldn't come with the death penalty. Disagreeing with anyone shouldn't come with the death penalty. Making threats in an attempt to change minds is useless and wrong. And if you do have some desire to kill someone because they don't think like you, then you need serious mental help. When I state these things, people on "my side" of the isle normally agree with me.

Then Ted Nugent makes a statement that could be easily construed as "kill them because they don't agree with me."

“Don’t ask why. Just know that evil, dishonesty, and scam artists have always been around and that right now they’re liberal, they’re Democrat, they’re RINOs, they’re Hollywood, they’re fake news, they’re media, they’re academia, and they’re half of our government, at least,” Nugent said according to conservative media watchdog Media Matters.

Nugent continued: “So come to that realization. There are rabid coyotes running around. You don’t wait till you see one to go get your gun. Keep your gun handy, and every time you see one, you shoot one.”
Suddenly, I'm wrong for not agreeing with the statement. Suddenly, he's "only talking about coyotes." Well, the statement as a whole can be construed otherwise, and it is, in fact, being read the way I believe it was intended.

"They started it."
"Oh, so now you're outraged about doing away with the other side."

Yes. Yes I am. And you should be, too. I don't care who started it. I haven't cared about, "he started it!" since I was in first grade.

I find it outrageous when the extreme liberals say things like that, and find this outrageous for exactly the same reasons. Disagreeing with someone is not death penalty worthy.

We're quick to talk about civil war and killing whoever for whatever, but why? Why would you be so eager to take a life?

Is there any reason for a civil war? Sure there is! But civil war is not the first thing we should jump to. Civil war - like any form of deadly force - should be an absolute last resort. We're not there yet, I hope we never get there. We may at some point, and that saddens me. I will keep hoping we never get there again. A civil war would be devastating on many levels to our country. It's not the badassery on display you seem to think it is. It would, most likely, destroy the USA.

And I am not going to agree with statements about killing those who disagree with me simply because they have made statements about killing me for disagreeing with them. If someone should act on it, then we have another story all together. Prepare to be met with deadly force. But again, I hope it never gets there. I take no pleasure in the deaths of others. I do not wish death on others. I would like to see our country united, not torn apart by violence. We're pretty far gone right now, but I think we can make it back.

Take the high road. They can wish death on you as much as they want. It doesn't justify returning the thought or threat unless they act on it. Debate. Protest. Fight for your rights where it counts. Stay on the high road. When they wish death on you, counter them with either debate or really blow their mind and tell them you hope they live a long life. We keep saying we want our country to unite and we want all this crazy to stop. We can't stop it if we join it.
